A shop with a real basket, a secure checkout, stock that keeps itself straight, and an order screen you can actually run the shop from.

For a church that means the pastor's book, camp registrations, and event tickets, with collection at the building instead of postage and a receipt that survives the treasurer. For a small retailer it means variants, one-of-a-kind pieces that go out of stock the moment they sell, local delivery, and shipping that does not lose money.

Honest about the boundary: if you sell the same item on the shop floor daily, or a third of your income comes through Etsy, a platform will serve you better and I will say so.
